IDDHIPADA 4 AND INTEGRATED HUMAN RESOURCE GOVERNANCE
Keywords:
Iddhipada 4, Human Resource Governance, Human Resource ManagementAbstract
This academic article aims to review and synthesize the principle of Iddhipada 4 in conjunction with the concept of Human Resource Governance (HR Governance) in order to propose a framework for explaining human resource governance that encompasses both organizational structure and employee behavior. The content is based on a review and synthesis of relevant academic literature in corporate governance, human resource management, and Buddhist principles. The review indicates that HR Governance emphasizes the establishment of frameworks and mechanisms to regulate decision-making related to personnel management. Its key principles include accountability, compliance, transparency, and strategic alignment, which guide organizational direction. Meanwhile, Iddhipada 4, comprising chanda (motivation), viriya (effort), citta (focus), and vimamsa (reflection), represents internal driving forces related to motivation, persistence, attentiveness, and reflective thinking, all of which influence work behavior. When considered together, the integration of HR Governance and Iddhipada 4 provides a clearer explanation of human resource governance. HR Governance defines organizational structure and direction, while Iddhipada 4 explains how employee behavior aligns with that structure. These two dimensions are continuously interconnected. Governance systems influence employee behavior, and employee behavior, in turn, affects the effectiveness of governance. The key contribution of this article is an integrated conceptual framework of human resource governance, which demonstrates that governance becomes more effective when both organizational structure and internal human drivers are considered together. This framework explains the relationship between governance systems and work behavior and reflects organizational outcomes in terms of efficiency, transparency, credibility, and sustainability.
