Research on the Cultural Value Characteristics and Contemporary Design Translation of Bai Ethnic Wedding Attire
Main Article Content
Abstract
As an important component of ethnic culture, Bai ethnic wedding costumes not only carry rich historical memory and ethnic identity but also reflect distinctive aesthetic styles and ritual functions. Taking Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture's Dali city as a case, this study adopted methods such as literature analysis, field investigation, and questionnaire surveys to systematically examine the cultural value system, expressive forms, and structural characteristics of Bai wedding attire. It further explores innovative strategies for contemporary design translation. The findings revealed that Bai wedding costumes possess significant value in terms of ritual heritage, emotional expression, and cultural identity, characterized by symbolic garment structures, patterns, colors, and craftsmanship. In contemporary contexts, modern design can revitalize such traditions through East-West fusion, material and technique innovation, and user participation. This research provided both a theoretical foundation and practical approach for the contemporary expression of traditional attire and offers insights into the revitalization of intangible cultural heritage and regional culture.
