The relationship between the Logistics Performance Indicator and Gross Domestic Product of ASEAN countries

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study Logistics Performance Indices of the countries around the world and Asian countries, 2) study Logistics Performance Index of Thailand, and 3) study the relationship between Logistics Performance Indices and the percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in eight Asian countries: Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippine, Laos, and Cambodia. Data were collected from World Bank from the year 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018. This study revealed the components of Logistics Performance Indices that can be the key for developing logistics performance around the world including Thailand. Additionally, the relationship between Logistics Performance Indices and the percentage of GDP growth in Asian region was examined by using correlation analysis. The results showed that 1) Sweden had the highest Logistics Performance Index in the world following by Germany, and Belgium, respectively, 2) Thailand Logistics Performance Index was ranked in the 32nd in the world and the 2nd in Asia, and 3) there were no significant correlation between Logistics Performance Indices and the percentage of GDP growth in Asian countries.
