The Study of Results of Learning Activities Based on the Constructivist Learning Theory Toward Mathematical Problem Solving Ability of Mattayomsuksa 3 Students
Keywords:
Constructivist learning theory, The mathematical problem – solvingAbstract
The purpose of this research were to study mathematical achievement and mathematical problem - solving ability comparing between using constructivist learning theory with using teacher manual for mathayomsuksa 3 students. The sample consisted of Mathayomsuksa 3 students of Ayutthaya Wittayalai School, in 1st semester of 2020 academic year, They were selected by multi – stage sampling and divided into 2 groups. which were 40 students from Mathayomsuksa 3/4 and 41 students from Mathayomsuksa 3/7. Total amount of time is 20 period. The research instruments used in the study were lesson plan which was constructed by constructivist learning theory and lesson plan from teacher manual, the mathematical achievement test that showed reliability was .93 and mathematical problem - solving that showed reliability was .84 ability – pre and post-test. Data were analyzed using Variance: MANOVA. Results of the study were as follows: 1) The mathematical achievement of the students using constructivist learning theory was higher than the students using teacher manual statistically different in level .05. 2) The mathematical problem - solving ability of the students using constructivist learning theory was higher than the students using teacher manual statistically different in level .05.
