Abstract

This research aims 1) To study the level of self-development needs of academic personnel, 2) To compare the self-development needs of academic personnel according to the characteristics of personal factors, and 3) To obtain policy recommendations for promoting the self-development needs of academic personnel, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. This research was survey research using questionnaires. The sample group was 400 academic staff from Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation,T-test and F-test. The results revealed that academic personnel had a high level of need for self-development as a whole. When considering each aspect, it was found that the sample group wanted to develop themselves first, namely entering academic positions, followed by research, teaching, training and seminars, and continuing education. The results of the comparison of the self-development needs of academic personnel classified by personal factors found that academic personnel with different family status and educational level had statistically different needs for self-development at 0.05 level. For policy recommendations, it was found that universities should allocate sufficient scholarships to support overseas study and should allocate appropriate time for academic performance to personnel.
