Factors Affecting the Success of Online Learning Based on the Opinions of Undergraduate Students Majoring in Aviation Management in an Institution

Abstract

This research is intended to 1) study personal factors that influence the success of online education, and 2) discover success factors upon online learning based on opinion of undergraduate student majoring in aviation management in an institution. This is a quantitative research. The sample size includes 274 individuals according to the concept of Krejcie & Morgan, (1970). The research tool is a questionnaire with a 5-Point Likert Scale. The data are analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, and the Scheffe Test is used in analysis of variance. The results show that overall of success factors was at middle level (= 3.40, S.D.=0.26), following be Technology was at high level (= 3.58, S.D.=1.15), Learner (= 3.53, S.D.=0.94), Instruction Media (= 3.48, S.D.=0.97), Institutional Sponsor (= 3.40, S.D.=0.26) respectively. And (1) personal factors regarding sex and academic year of study have no relationship with success factors of online learning while the age differences produce a difference in the success factor of online learning. (2) The differences in learner’s perspective, supporter’s perspective, instructional media perspective, and technology perspective have a difference in the opinion towards the success factors on online learning at the statistically significant value of 0.05.
