A Study on English Learning Achievement and Satisfaction through Chatbot

Abstract

 The purposes of this study were 1. to study the effectiveness of Chatbot for developing English grammar in Past Simple of Matthayomsuksa 2 students and compare to the efficiency criterion 80/80, 2. to compare the students’ English grammar achievement in Past Simple of Matthayomsuksa 2 students between pre-test and post-test through Chatbot 3. to study the students’ satisfaction of learning English grammar in Past Simple of Matthayomsuksa 2 students through Chatbot. This study was experimental research. The population was Matthayomsuksa 2 students at Samutsakhon Wittayalai School The sample was selected using purposive sampling and the samples consisted of 36 students in the first semester in academic year of 2021. The research instruments were 1) 4 lesson plans 2) Artificial Intelligence (Chatbot) 3) The English achievement test 4) The learning satisfaction questionnaire after learning through Chatbot. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, percentage and t-test. According to the research results, it showed 1) An effectiveness of Chatbot for developing English grammar in Past Simple of Matthayomsuksa 2 students is 82.12/81.21 which is higher than its criteria, 80/80. 2) The comparing English learning achievement in Past Simple of Matthayomsuksa 2 students through Chatbot was higher at the statistically significance level of .05. 3) The students’ learning satisfaction through Chatbot of Matthayomsuksa 2 students in overall was at a good level ( = 4.26, S.D. = 0.79)
