Abstract

Phin is a popular instrument from ancient times to the present. The objectives of this study were to 1) study the History of the Isan Phin. 2) Current conditions and problems of Isan Phin production patterns. 3) Creating new innovations to develop creative economy products. Data from documents and fieldwork were analyzed and presented by means of descriptive analysis. The results are as follows. 1) The Isan Phin has an unclear history, but it maintains a close relationship between musical instruments between cultures. An ancient craftsman made it simple to compare the sound to match the sound system used to play along with the Khaen melody. When Morlam Ploen originated in the Northeast, the harp was played as the main instrument. Artists developed a harp band, so they were mixed with the band and improved the sound amplification system is widely popular. It is widely popular. 2) Current conditions and problems, Isan Phin has become more popular, raw materials are scarce as the wood used for making is not available for replacement and some hardwoods are restricted trees. The Phin that is being produced today is made of several pieces of wood that have been put together to create a beautiful pattern and color. 3) The creation of new innovations in Phin making by selecting the strengths of craftsmen in the 3 research areas to create new designs by applying suitable tools. The newly made harp retains its unique shape, pattern, and additional coloring techniques. Improving sound quality to meet the demands of buyers. In conclusion, this research can be used as a guideline for the development of similar instruments.
