The Development of Community-Based Learning Activity to Promote Higher Order Thinking, Teamwork and Collaborative Competency for Secondary School Students

Abstract

The objectives of this study were:  1. to develop the community-based learning activity for Secondary School Students, 2. to study the findings of community-based learning activity management for enhancing the higher order thinking, communicative competency, teamwork and collaborative competencies for Secondary School Students, and 3. to study Matayomsuksa 3 Students’ satisfaction in learning activity management of community-based learning.  The target group of this srtudy were: 
25 Lower Secondary School Students from different classes, 39 Upper Secondary School Students from different classes, 5 School teachers, and12 Students’ parents. The research instruments of this study were: 1) the Interview Form of condition in context-based condition for students’ potential development, the students, the teachers, and the students’ parents, 2) the Learning Activity Management Plan, Integrative Learning Unit titled “Shallot Product,” and 3) the Evaluative Form of Higher order Thinking Competency, Teamwork and Collaborative Competency.  The research findings found that: The development of community-based learning activity for Secondary School Students, learning activity development was implemented according to the following steps:  1.1) the context-based of development capital, the students, the teachers, and the community as well as the need leading to learning management design, 1.2) the best practice, 1.3) the design of integrative learning unit by using community-based, 1.4) the learning activity management, 1.5) the authentic learning assessment and learn according to their teaching professional learning community, 2) the findings of community-based learning activity management for enhancing higher order thinking, communicative competency, teamwork and collaborative competency for Secondary School Students were as follows:  the critical thinking was in “the Highest” level ( X = 4.55), the creative thinking ( X = 4.66 ), and working with the others ( X = 4.62 ), 3) the Secondary School Students’ satisfaction in community-based learning activity management, was in “High” level.   ( X = 4.50, S.D.=0.597)
