Guideline to Manage and Reduce Stray Dogs by the Local Government Organization in Mueang Suphan Buri District, Suphan Buri Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the guideline to manage and reduce stray dogs in the local government organization in Mueang Suphan Buri district, Suphan Buri province.   This research is a mixed method research which is divided into 2 steps. Step 1 to study stray dog management guidelines to reduce stray dog problems Use quantitative research The researchPopulation in the research included 86 authorities working with rabies prevention and control belonging to the local government organization in Mueang Suphan Buri district.  Data was collected from the population specifically by the questionnaire having 0.97 confidence value and calculated mean average, percentage and standard deviation. Step 2 to confirm stray dog management guidelines to reduce stray dog problems. Use qualitative research The interview form was used to collect data with 7 key informants, including those involved in local government administration or supervising local government organizations. and private organizations/NGOs and analyze the data with content analysis techniques. Findings revealed the followings. Management guidelines to reduce the problem of stray dogs of local administrative organizations in Mueang Suphan Buri District Overall, it was at a high level in all aspects. There are management guidelines to reduce stray dog problems (1) Reproduction control, including sterilization of dogs. (2) Responsibilities of dog owners include having knowledge and understanding before making a decision before adopting a dog and (3) Building knowledge and understanding about dog raising, i.e. creating awareness and correct attitude for owners by organizing projects or activities to educate and enhance understanding of dog raising and responsibility.
