Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the problems and causes of family’s problems in Thai society which reflects from Thai family drama novels during 1965-2014. The study analyzed four Thai family novels and reflected 4 main family problems: 1) the improper behavior of family members: a unfaithful husband having an intimate relationship with another woman, members did not have conversations over the problem to make clear understanding, and senseless behavior caused by alcohol drinking, 2) influences of western value that divorce was common, remarriage of the women was not shameful, and having sex with ones who were not spouses was common in today's society, 3) insufficient income causing a family problem since insufficient income that lead to stress, needed additional time to work, and had no time for family. These marriage and financial problems would end with selfishness, and 4) differences of family background caused problems for adjusting to married life.
