The Scenario of International Private Primary Schools in The Next Decade

Abstract

The objectives of this dissertation were; 1) to study the current conditions of international private primary schools, and 2) to study the scenario of international private primary schools in the next decade. 302 samples in the study consisting of school directors, international affairs executives and teachers of international private primary schools were obtained by the table of Krejcia and Morgan through simple random sampling. The data were collected by 5-rating scale questionnaires and in-depth interview, and then analyzed by mean and standard deviationIn the process of EDFR (Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research), the data were collected from 19 experts in international schools through semistructural interview, and Delphi questionnaire,and then analyzed by percentage, median and Interquatile Range. The results of the study found that; 1. The mean of current conditions of international private primary schools in 10 aspects; 1) Administration, 2) Teaching staff, 3) Cirrculum, 4) Teaching and learning activities, 5) Quality standard, 6) Subsidy from the government, 7) Learning values, 8) Teaching materials, 9) Students, and 10) Buddhism, should be developed and supported for the school progress was at a minimum to medium level ( = 2.32 - 2.60). 2. The scenario of international private primary schools in the next decade based
on EDFR found that international education in Thailand in the next decade will have changes under the influence of technological globalization, communicative language and educational reform for Thailand 4.0. Preparations for the scenario of international private primary schools in the next decade was as follos: 1) The administration must share the same goal, independence and cooperative. 2) Teachers must be professional, work pro-active, have teaching skills and be good at their subjects. 3) The curriculum must be universal, flexible and democratic. 4) Teaching and learning activities must be varied, relevant to the learners’ need and international direction. 5) Quality standard must be accountable with foreign language standard and school-path progress.
6) Sufficient subsidy from the government must come in the form of budget and policy. 7) Value, concept and image of international private primary schools must be built and pushed forward together.8) Teaching materials and teaching media must be standardized and democratic, and schools can produce their own textbooks. 9) Students must have capability in communication in the second language fluently and have other abilities at the standard level. 10) School and Buddhism must be the option for students and Buddhism must be conserved, supported and encouraged in international private primary schools. The cooperations of all agents will directly result to the development and rogress of international private primary schoolsin every level. The scenario of international private primary schools will not only have a clear guideline in this decade but also will be the base of national development in every dimension, and that is also relevant to the National Development Plan (2560-2579).
