A STUDY OF DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS OF VOCATIONAL STUDENTS BASED ON FIVE PRECEPTS OF THE PATIPPLIPHOL TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE IN BANGKOK

Abstract

Objectives of the study included 1) to study desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok; 2) to study the opinion on desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok; and 3) to propose ways of desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok. The study was a mixed method between a qualitative research and quantitative one in nature. A Schedule Interview was used to collect qualitative data from key informants and a questionnaire was used for collecting quantitative data from a sample of 175 students. A content analysis was used for analyzing qualitative data and statistics including Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation was used for analyzing quantitative data.

The results of the study found that:

1. 1. Regarding desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok it found that in general all 3 aspects were high, while considering each aspect by showing from the aspect with the highest to the lowest average value including a skill and application, desired moral, ethics and characteristics, and knowledge respectively.

With regard to the opinion on desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok it found that for the knowledge based on Five precepts students should be cultivated a common sense of search for new knowledge and creation of innovation in the seeking of correct knowledge; for the skill and application based on Five precepts students should apply the vocational skill for themselves, society and community; for desired moral, ethics and characteristics on Five precepts they should have a good thought and practice with an effective concentration for the development of themselves, society and community based on a good sake of their knowledge, ability, and profession.

In respect of propose ways of desirable characteristics of Vocational students based on Five Precepts of the Patippliphol Technology College in Bangkok it revealed that students had to be interested in seeking knowledge and search for new experience and knowledge, followed the procedures set out, performed with determination, performed with careful consideration, got honesty without plagiarism, did not use unfair means in examination, did not steel, paid respect to Thailand’s identity, got mindful and controlled emotions well and manners, refrained from dividing drugs.
