Abstract

This article aims to study appropriate solutions regarding maternity leave rights for female employees. The rights to maternity leave of employees are stipulated in the Labor Protection Act B.E. 2542 and there has been an amendment to maternity leave which increased maternity leave to 98 days in the 7th amendment, which when Has studied foreign laws regarding maternity leave rights and appropriate guidelines for medical maternity leave and is of the opinion that maternity leave should be increased to 180 days. Therefore it is considered to be an appropriate period of time. And to be in line with the international principles of the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund, which states that children should receive exclusively breast milk for 6 months, if maternity leave is revised, it will be equal to 180 days because of the period This is considered a time when mothers and children bond with each other. And when considering the birth statistics of the population in Thailand, It can be considered that the birth rate of infants is much lower compared to previous years.

          For this reason, the author believes that the government should have legal measures to encourage people to want to have more children. By increasing the period of maternity leave to 180 days from the original 98 days, increasing the number of places for breastfeeding in each establishment. Including providing tax benefits to employers. This is to give employers an incentive to hire pregnant female employees. To create a joint solution between the government, employers and employees, and also to promote good development of children who are born. Have good physical and mental health Can be a quality human resource in work and to increase the number of workers in the labor market to be sufficient for work as well.
