Abstract

The objective of this study is twofold: (1) to explore the concept of the two truths (conventional and ultimate truths) in the Abhidharma schools of Buddhism and the opinions on the same subject of a prominent Buddhist philosopher of our time, namely T.R.V. Murti; (2) To offer an analysis how ordinary language which is considered true by convention, if used appropriately, can serve as a means to the realization of ultimate truth.
