Guideline for Applying the Seven Sappurisa-dhamma to Promote Peace in Community: A Case Study of Nongsang Sub-District, Wapeephathum District, Mahasarakham Province

Abstract

          The article aims were: 1) to study Buddha-Dhamma to enhance peace; 2) to study the problems of Nongseang community, Wapeepathum district, Mahasarakham province; 3) to study the guidelines in applying Buddha-Dhamma to enhance peace in the Nongseang community.

          The research results found that Seven Qualities of Virtuous People (sappurisa-dhamma) is the dhamma principle that is suitable to apply for enhancing peace. However, the interpersonal and social conflicts were the problem. The Seven Qualities of Virtuous People was used as the guideline to enhance peace in Nongseang community and it is composed of:  Dharmannutta: knowing the law; knowing the cause, Atthannuta: knowing the meaning; knowing the purpose; knowing the consequence, Attannuta: knowing oneself, Mattannuta: moderation; knowing how to be temperate; sense of proportion, Kālannutā: knowing the proper time; knowing how to choose and keep time, Parisannutā: knowing the assembly; knowing the society, Puggalannutā: knowing the individual; knowing the different individuals as well as using language communication for compromise.
