The Land Management Policy of the Thai Government During B.E. 1957-2021

Abstract

This article aims to study 1) Development of the Thai government's land management policy during the period 1957-2021 2) Ideas, movements and land management policies of the Thai government during the period 1957-2021. 3) Interactions between government land management policies and politics and governance of Thailand that affect the social, economic, and political development of the country. Using qualitative research methods it is the analysis of data from documents or documentary research and data from in-depth interviews.

          The research results found that 1) The Thai government's land management policy is increasingly changing. Laws have been adjusted to promote investment and make it more convenient for the private sector. But there was a land problem that resulted in farmers protesting. In the end, the Thai Farmers Federation was founded. To support people's movements in an era when democracy is entering the growth stage. 2) Adjusting laws to promote private investment and increase relationships with the economy that creates jobs and income. And the emergence of land problems that affect farming communities, such as the financial crisis of 1997, is a reason why the government sector aims to develop policies and bring in technology or innovation to use in land management. To increase efficiency in operating in accordance with the government's established policies. 3) The land management policy of the government sector in Thailand is related to politics and governance that has an impact on the social, economic, and political development of Thailand. Government land management is therefore an important factor affecting the social, economic, and political development of Thailand in every period of change in both policy and operations.
