Main Article Content
Abstract
Three-star hotels in Chiang Mai Province face competition in terms of price, service quality, distribution channels, and marketing communications. Hotel operators therefore need to formulate strategies that are consistent with organizational readiness and customer needs. This research aimed to examine the levels of the McKinsey 7S components, service quality, integrated marketing communications, and business strategies of three-star hotels in Chiang Mai Province. The study employed a quantitative survey design. The sample consisted of 380 hotel operators, managers, or executives involved in hotel management, marketing, or strategy formulation, selected through purposive sampling combined with convenience sampling. The research instrument was a five-point rating-scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that: 1) the overall level of the McKinsey 7S components was high (x̄ = 4.12, S.D. = 0.65), with strategy having the highest mean; 2) the overall level of service quality was at the highest level (x̄ = 4.24, S.D. = 0.62), with assurance having the highest mean; 3) the overall level of integrated marketing communications was high (x̄ = 4.17, S.D. = 0.69), with personal selling having the highest mean; and 4) the overall level of business strategies was high (x̄ = 3.87, S.D. = 0.86), with cost leadership strategy and focus strategy having equally the highest mean. The findings indicate that hotels should link strategy formulation with personnel development, work systems, customer responsiveness, and consistent marketing communications.
