Abstract

Following the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic, demand for face masks in the general market declined, while manufacturers continued to face competition in terms of price, quality, product standards, and changes in consumer demand. Entrepreneurs therefore needed to adjust their operations to align with post-crisis market conditions. This research aimed to examine the levels of entrepreneurial characteristics, market orientation, innovation, and the success of face mask manufacturers in Thailand. The study employed a quantitative survey research design. The sample consisted of 300 business owners, middle-level managers or above, or representatives of face mask manufacturing establishments. The participants were selected through purposive sampling combined with convenience sampling. The research instrument was a five-point rating-scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that: 1) entrepreneurial characteristics were overall at a high level (X̄ = 4.20, S.D. = 0.58), with competitive aggressiveness having the highest mean; 2) market orientation was overall at a high level (X̄ = 4.19, S.D. = 0.61), with competitor orientation having the highest mean; 3) innovation was overall at a high level (X̄ = 4.09, S.D. = 0.52), with product and service innovation having the highest mean; and 4) entrepreneurial success was overall at a high level (X̄ = 4.19, S.D. = 0.47), with financial success having the highest mean. Meanwhile, proactiveness, interfunctional coordination, process innovation, and customer-related success had lower mean scores than the other dimensions. The findings indicate that entrepreneurs should place greater emphasis on market forecasting, production process development, internal organizational coordination, and the use of customer information to improve products and services.
