The Development of Melayu Reading Comprehension Using Cooperative Learning with CIRC Technique of 7^th Grade Students at Chongraksat Witthaya School Mueang District Pattani Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare Melayu language reading comprehension skills before and after implementing the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning technique among Grade 7 students at Chongraksat Witthaya School. The sample group consisted of 42 students from the Grade 7/3 class. The research instruments included: 1) CIRC cooperative learning lesson plans for Melayu language reading comprehension, and 2) pre-test and post-test for reading comprehension skills. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and dependent sample t-test. The results showed that Melayu language reading comprehension skills of Grade 7 students at Chongraksat Witthaya School after implementing the CIRC technique were significantly higher than before at the .01 statistical level, with the pre-test mean score of 9.40 points and the post-test mean score of 19.10 points, respectively.
