Social work in the community Making a difference

พัฒนาการของงานสังคมสงเคราะห์เจริญก้าวหน้าควบคู่กับการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง ยิ่งการพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและความเจริญทางวัตถุเจริญขึ้นเท่าไร ปัญหาทางสังคมก็ยิ่งมีมากขึ้นเท่านั้น อาทิ ปัญหาเด็กถูกทอดทิ้ง ปัญหาอาชญากรรม ปัญหายาเสพติด ปัญหาความยากจน ปัญหาการว่างงาน ปัญหาการตั้งครรภ์ไม่พร้อม เป็นต้น โดยจุดสำคัญของงานสังคมสงเคราะห์คืองานบริการมนุษย์ที่ทำกับบุคคลที่กำลังประสบปัญหาหรือไม่ประสบปัญหาก็ตาม เพื่อให้บุคคลเหล่านั้นมีคุณภาพชีวิตที่ดี ช่วยเหลือตนเองได้ และสามารถดำเนินชีวิตอยู่ในสังคมได้อย่างมีความสุข
