Mission Analysis of Doctor Pak Loharnshoon Case Study: The Search and Rescue Operations at Tham Luang Khun Nam Nangnon Forest Park

Abstract

The objective of this research to study the role and leadership of Colonel Dr. Park Loharnshoon in the search and rescue operations to save the lives of young football team “Wild Boar Academy” at Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nangnon Forest Park, Chiang Rai. This was a Quantitative Research using study methods and collecting data from academic documents, various online print media and the lesson-learned after operation. It also included of in-depth interviews with Colonel Dr. Park Loharnshoon, the SEALs who participated in the operations, and subordinates who have served in the 3^rd Service Medical Battalion, content analysis and presentation of descriptive analysis. The results of the research found that Colonel Dr. Park Loharnshoon is a Doctor of the Royal Thai Army under the 3^rd Service Medical Battalion, Surathampitak Camp, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He successfully graduated of several major military courses, especially the underwater destroyer of the Naval Special Warfare Command (SEALs). He played an important role in being involved in life-saving operations by diving into the cave with other SEALs until being able to complete the mission. And having a leadership trait that enables a person or group of people to make effort in performing their duties in achieving a goal in a given situation. It has the characteristics of leaders whose behavior is work-oriented by using techniques in order to achieve the specified goals. Also, being a leader with relationship-oriented behavior by trying to maintain a clear relationship with subordinates and associates, perform working with easily accessible. Along with teaching about how to live their lives and adapt to the changing society and allowing the subordinates to have opportunity to be leaders and can express opinions freely.
