Thai Fruit and Vegetable Product Safety Standards: Principle of Harmonization under the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures

Abstract

This article aims to present the study on a body of knowledge about international trade rules for trading safe agricultural and food product, under the principle promoting harmonization of the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS), the second objection is to study laws and regulations in executing sanitary measure on food safety, the safety standards for Thailand’s fruit and vegetable products, and Codex Alimentarius for the safety of fruit and vegetable products, as well as introducing the study result on Thai fruit and vegetable product safety standards with principles of harmonization of the Codex Alimentarius, which is also an international food safety standard, altogether to express Thailand’s compliance with commitment to reduce trade barriers, by promoting the adoption of existing international standards and to build consumer confidence that Thai vegetable and fruit standards are as safe as the international ones.
