The Factors Influencing Burnout Among Professional Nurses: Case Study of Narita Hospital, Chiba Province, Japan

Abstract
Research article aimed to examine the level of job burnout among professional nurses and to investigate the job characteristic factors influencing burnout among professional nurses at Narita Hospital, Chiba Province, Japan. The sample consisted of 121 professional nurses working at Narita Hospital. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The statistical techniques employed for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and simple regression analysis.The findings revealed that the overall level of job burnout among professional nurses at Narita Hospital was low. When considering each dimension, burnout was ranked in descending order as follows: depersonalization, emotional exhaustion, and reduced personal accomplishment, respectively. The results of hypothesis testing indicated that role conflict or role ambiguity and job value incongruence significantly affected job burnout at the .01 level. Additionally, work-related impacts on mental and physical health, as well as decision-making authority regarding job responsibilities, were found to significantly influence burnout at the .05 level. The model was able to explain 62.40 percent of the variance in job burnout, while the remaining 37.60 percent was attributed to other factors. The findings of this study provide valuable implications for nursing management, particularly in formulating effective managerial measures and policies aimed at reducing burnout risks. Furthermore, the results contribute to the long-term development of service quality at Narita Hospital.
