Food Service Quality for Patients and Cross-Cultural Communication Influencing Hospital Satisfaction in Bangkok and Metropolitan Areas

Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) examine the levels of food service quality for patients, intercultural communication, and the satisfaction of hospital staff; 2) examine the influence of service quality on hospital satisfaction in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region; and 3) examine the influence of intercultural communication on hospital satisfaction in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Data were collected via questionnaires from 190 hospital personnel and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that: 1) overall service quality, intercultural communication, and hospital satisfaction were all at high levels; 2) the five dimensions of service quality jointly predicted satisfaction at 37.0% (R² = 0.370); and 3) the three dimensions of intercultural communication jointly predicted satisfaction at 30.3% (R² = 0.303), with statistical significance.
