An Analysis of the Relationship between Serial Verbs and the Semantic Roles of Their Arguments

Abstract
This research aims to analyze the relationship between serial verbs and the semantic roles of their arguments based on case grammar theory in order to establish rules for computational language processing. A total of 4,000 sentences were analyzed using qualitative research method. The results of the study reveal that there are 14 forms of serial verbs with the semantic roles of their arguments, with a maximum of 5 noun arguments. These structural forms can serve as the basis for establishing 17 rules.
