Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tanng Phra Pra Daeng:  Mr.Chuen Rimphanich

This article aims to study the content and the role together with the structure of Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng of Mr.Chuen Rimphanit.   From the study, it is found that Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng was an ancient Mon songs played in the Mon Piphat Ensemble during reciting prayers in a funeral ceremony at home. Later on, Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng was played by the Mon Piphat Ensemble at the end of a funeral ceremony held at the temples and did for the last song. Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng has the length of fourteen rhythmic patterns divided into two tims. The former length has six rhythmic patterns and the latter one has eight rhythmic patterns. The melody of Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng focuses on keeping frequent phrases, turning the tune down, karn bun laeng sum mue, karn bun leang mue kwang, karn tee chai mue (mue tang diew), karn sabud chiew in high and low tunes. Those who play Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng must have learning skill in mue kong mon (muekwang). It is really admitted that Pleng Pra Jum Ban Tang Phra Pra Daeng is the specifically outstanding identity of Mr.Chuen Rimphanich. Consequently, it must be carried on as the inheritance of the Mon Phiphat.
