การศึกษาปัญหาของการพูดภาษาอังกฤษในการสื่อสารด้วยวาจา ของนิสิตคณะวิทยาการจัดการ มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ วิทยาเขตศรีราชา ตุลาคม 2550 ถึง กันยายน 2551

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มุ่งสำรวจปัญหาการพูดภาษาอังกฤษอย่างเป็นทางการในรูปแบบการพูดนำเสนอ
และการพูดแสดงความคิดเห็นในที่ชุมชน เพื่อเสนอแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาด้านการเรียนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษในมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ เป็นการวิจัยแบบผสมผสานการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพและการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือนิสิตระดับปริญญาตรี มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ วิทยาเขตศรีราชา ที่ศึกษาอยู่ในคณะวิทยาการจัดการ จำนวน 179 คน เรียนวิชาการสื่อสารด้วยวาจาในภาคปลายปีการศึกษา 2550จำนวน 89 คน และในภาคต้นปีการศึกษา 2551 จำนวน 90 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยคือแบบสอบถามแบบประเมินค่า การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกแบบมีโครงสร้าง ผลการวิจัยพบว่าปัญหาการพูดภาษาอังกฤษอย่างเป็นทางการในที่ชุมชนของนิสิตคือ 1) การขาดความมั่นใจในตนเอง สืบเนื่องมาจากมีความรู้พื้นฐานทางด้านภาษาอังกฤษไม่เพียงพอสำหรับการสื่อสาร มีจำนวนคำศัพท์น้อย ขาดทักษะการใช้ภาษาในการสื่อสารในสภาพจริง 2) การขาดทักษะการคิดวิเคราะห์และการให้เหตุผลสนับสนุนความคิดนอกจากนี้การวิจัยพบว่าการเรียนที่มีการลงมือปฏิบัติอย่างจริงจัง ต่อเนื่องและสม่ำเสมอภายใต้การให้คำแนะนำในการแก้ไขข้อบกพร่องเป็นรายบุคคลช่วยให้มีความมั่นใจ และพัฒนาความสามารถทางด้านการพูด

A Study of Problems in English Speaking in Speech Communication of Management Sciences Students, Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus: October 2007 to September 2008

This study was aimed at investigating problems of English speaking in oral
presentation and expressing opinions in public in order to find out ways to solve problems of English teaching at Kasetsart University. It was carried out by using the qualitative and quantitative research methods. The population of this study were 179 Kasetsart University undergraduate students of The Faculty of Management Sciences, who were studying Speech Communication in the second semester of the academic year 2007 and in the first semester of the academic year 2008 i.e. 89 students and 90 students respectively. The instruments employed in this study were rating-scale questionnaire, participatory observation, and structural in-depth interview. The study results revealed that the students’ major problems were 1) a lack of confidence which was resulted from their inadequate knowledge of English language, insufficient amount of vocabulary, and a lack of English communicative skills in real world communication; 2) a lack of ability to express critical thinking and giving a logical reason. In addition, it was found that the students’ serious and persistent practices under feedback given and supervised individually made the students feel confident and improve their speaking performance.
