Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study 1) change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces 2) growth mindset of school administrators in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces 3) relationship between growth mindset of school administrators and change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces, and 4) growth mindset of school administrators affecting change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces. The sample consisted of 370 teachers in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces by Taro Yamane at 95% confidence. Multi Stage Random Sampling was applied thereafter. The instruments used for data collection were 5 point-rating scale questionnaires. The index of Item- Objective Congruence (IOC) was valued since 0.80-1.00.  The reliability of growth mindset was equal to 0.82 and the reliability of change management was equal to 0.85. The data analysis was done by mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise Multiple Regression.

The research results were found as following;

  1. The level of change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces as a whole and each individual aspect were at high level by descending order of the average as follow; 1) personnel development 2) organization development 3) innovation and digital technology development, and 4) organizational culture development respectively.
  2. The level of growth mindset of school administrators in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces as a whole and each individual aspect were at high level by descending order of the average as follow; 1) visionary 2) open-mindedness 3) emotional stability 4) out-of-the-box management, and 5) continuous learning respectively.
  3. There was a statistically significant high levels of positive relationship at 0.05 between growth mindset of school administrators and change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces.
  4. Growth mindset of school administrators affecting change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces at 0.05 level of significance. Growth mindset of school administrators in aspect of visionary revealed the highest predictive power followed by continuous learning, open-mindedness and emotional stability respectively. For the aspect of out-of-the-box management revealed no effect on change management. Growth mindset of school administrators mutually predicted change management in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office in the Upper Northern Provinces with the predictive power was at 81.23 percent.
