Abstract

Research articles on participation and mechanisms in natural resource management of local communities: a case study of Tha Chang Canal, Tha Chang District, Surat Thani Province was the qualitative research project using a semi-structured interview script to collect data in Tha Chang Sub-District, within a 10-kilometer radius measured from industrial factories, totaling 33 key informants consisted of 5 representatives from industrial factory operators, 2 local leaders from 4 sub-districts, 2 per Tambon, namely Tha Chang, Khao Than, Tha Khoei, and Sawiat, amounting 8 people, and 5 related government officials and people in 4 Sub-Districts, 5 people per Sub-District.

It was found that the approaches for participation in natural resource management at the Khlong Tha Chang area had problems that resulted in misunderstandings between local communities and industrial factories due to factories in the community lacked communication such as the details of environmental impact actions and did not allow the community to participate in the preparation of plans or measures to reduce environmental impacts. It was also found that quality interactions led to projects and activities that met the needs of the community. and considering the different community contexts, resulting in a good relationship between community and factory and living together sustainably.
