BELIEF AND FAITH IN SACRED OBJECTS OF THAI PEOPLE

Abstract

This article aims to study and present the beliefs and faith in sacred objects of Thai people in present, how is it consistent with Buddhist teachings? The study found that Belief and faith in sacred objects of Thai people Can be divided into 3 groups is 1. a group with beliefs in Buddhism or faith in Buddhist values, i.e. a group that focuses on representing the virtues of the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha, or the person who believes in that the faith in this group is consistent with the faith 4 in Buddhism. 2. A group with superstition is a group that aims for miracles, inspiration, and needs for safety. The faith in this group will conflict with the faith 4 in Buddhism. 3. Groups that do not have faith and faith in goodness or miraculous powers are groups that focus on Buddhist art and groups that focus on being commercial products. By believing and believing in the sacred object If it is the most beneficial according to Buddhist principles, it must be worshiped in a way that the sacred object represents a person with good deeds. Or worship the person who should be worshiped according to the principles in the auspicious formula. Therefore, if Thai people will have faith and faith in sacred objects to achieve prosperity in life. Must have a Buddhist belief have faith that consists of wisdom Worship to the goodness of things due to that sacred object and always follow the teachings or goodness of the person who deserves that worship.
