Abstract

The objectives of this research paper are as follows: 1. To study the level of promoting democratic consciousness; 2. To compare opinions on promoting democratic consciousness classified by individual factors, and 3. To study the development of fostering democratic consciousness among people at Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, conducted by mixed research methods. In the quantitative research, data were collected with questionnaires with a total confidence of 0.663. The population was people in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, and the sample size was sampled using Taro Yamane's formula, totalling 399 people. In the qualitative research, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 10 key informants and analysed using descriptive interpretation.

The results showed that 1. Promoting the democratic consciousness of the people at Bang Kruai District was at a high level ( $gif.latex?\bar{x}$ = 3.86) 2. Democratic consciousness promotion comparison was that people with different genders and occupations did not have different democratic consciousness promotion, rejecting the set hypothesis. People of various ages and education levels had statistically significant differences in democratic consciousness promotion at 0.05, thus accepting the set hypothesis. 3. Development guidelines for promoting democratic consciousness among the people at Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, by applying the principles of Buddha Dharma, were found 1. Responsibility and self-reliance: There was an old way of application, but there are new ways. 2 Respect for equality: All citizens should contribute to promoting democratic consciousness. 3. Problems and obstacles: People must cooperate to solve community problems. The government must participate in promoting democratic consciousness within the community.
