BUDDHADHAMMA INTEGRATION FOR PROMOTING ELECTION VOTING OF ADMINISTRATORS AND MEMBERS OF LOCAL COUCILS IN TRANG PROVINCE

Abstract

Objectives of this research article were: 1. To study the general conditions of promoting decision–making in election voting of the executives and members of local councils. 2. To study the factors affecting decision–making in electing the executives and members of local councils. 3. To present the Buddhadhamma integration for promoting decision–making in electing the executives and members of local councils in Trang province, conducted by the mixed methods. The qualitative research and data were collected from 18 key informants. The quantitative research data was collected by questionnaire from 400 samples. The data were analyzed by frequency, means, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.

The research results were as follows: 1. People were enthusiastic and alert to political activities, accepted the difference in political philosophies, had knowledge and insight into political participation, conducted a reasoned and complete examination of the political environment and appropriate ways to settle conflicts. 2. The political socialization and Saraniyadhamma VI affecting people’s decision–making in electing the executives and members of local councils in Trang province, with statistically significant level of .01. 3. Saraniyadhamma VI integration for promoting decision–making in electing the executives and members of local councils in Trang province consisted of to do and to speak kindly to one another based on reason, thinking in beneficial, and fairness benefits sharing, maintaining the rules and values, to give importance to moralities, and to accept and act according to the majority rules.
