SUCARITADHAMMA APPLICATION FOR PROMOTING VOTING RIGHT EXCERCISE IN LOCAL ELECTIONS OF PEOPLE AT RAYONG CITY MUNICIPALITY, RAYONG PROVINCE

Abstract

This article aimed at 1. Study the level of people exercising their voting rights in local elections at Rayong City Municipality, Rayong Province. 2. Compare the exercise of their voting rights in local elections of people at Rayong City Municipality, Rayong Province and 3. Apply Sucaritdhamma for promoting the exercise of local election rights among people in Rayong City Municipality, Rayong Province, conducted by the mixed research methods.  The quantitative research data were collected from 397 samples and analyzed using frequencies. Percentage, mean and standard deviation The qualitative research section using in-depth interviews with 9 key informants, data were analyzed by presenting content by a descriptive interpretation.

The research results were found that 1. The level of voting rights exercise in local elections at Rayong City Municipality, Rayong Province was at a moderate level ( =3.17, S.D.=0.74). 2. People with different ages, education, occupations, and incomes had significantly different factors in voting rights exercise. Gender had no difference. 3. Kayasucarita, physical honesty: People should prepare and study information before voting to maintain the rules and not break the rules. They should respect the place and study the past performance of candidates, which means checking the behavior of the selected representative. Vacisucarita; speech honesty: People should be aware of their own rights and freedoms. At the same time, they must respect the rights of others and abide by the law and democracy. Manosucarita; Mental honesty: Before voting, people should think and distinguish the qualifications of candidates by choosing those who have good behavior and are responsible for the community. Planning before voting will help select a more suitable representative.
