MANAGING POLICY CONFLICT IN MULTICULTURAL SOCIETIES

This academic article studied approaches to policy conflict management in a multicultural society by reviewing literature related to conflict management theories and the concept of multicultural society. Conflict problems in a multicultural society arise from differences in values, beliefs, and interests among groups. This study proposed approaches to conflict management through negotiation, cross-cultural communication, participatory policy-making, and the development of appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms. The results of the study indicated that effective conflict management required an understanding of cultural contexts, building trust among groups, and developing policies that reflected the needs of all parties. The knowledge gained from this study can be applied to the development of public policies and conflict management mechanisms in Thai society and other multicultural societies.
