SAPPURISADHAMMA INTEGRATION FOR PROMOTING POLITICAL LEADERSHIP OF DON CHIMPLEE SUB-DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY ADMINISTRATORS AT BANG NAM PRIAO DISTRICT IN CHACHOENGSAO PROVINCE

Abstract

Objectives of this research article were: 1. To study the level of political leadership of the administrators of Don Chimphli Sub-District Municipality, Bang Nam Priao District, Chachoengsao Province. 2. To compare the opinions of citizens toward the political leadership of the municipal administrators classified by personal factors. 3. To present the integration of Sappurisadhamma, the virtues of a true person, to promote the political leadership of the municipal administrators. This research employed a mixed-methods, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The quantitative research collected data through questionnaires from 300 sample respondents. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative research, data were collected by structured in-depth interviewing 10 key informants, and the data were analyzed using descriptive content interpretation.

The research findings revealed that: 1. The overall level of political leadership of the administrators of Don Chimphli Sub-District Municipality, Bang Nam Priao District, Chachoengsao Province, was at a high level (=4.06). 2. The comparison of citizens’ opinions showed that differences in occupation and monthly income did not result in significantly different opinions toward political leadership, thereby rejecting the set research hypothesis. However, differences in gender, age, and educational level led to significantly different opinions, thus accepting the hypothesis. 3. The integration of Sappurisa dhamma in enhancing the administrators’ leadership involved the application of the following principles: 1. Dhammaññuta knowing causes, understanding problems, and solving them in accordance with the law; 2. Atthaññuta knowing results, working for the benefit of the people; 3. Attaññuta knowing oneself, maintaining good conduct, and being a role model; 4. Mattanñuta knowing moderation, managing budgets and resources without extravagance; 5. Kalanñuta knowing the proper time, working appropriately to situations; 6. Parisannñuta knowing the community, understanding society and people’s needs; and 7. Puggalannñuta knowing individuals, selecting and assigning the right person to the right task.
