Abstract

This research article had the following objectives: 1. To Study the level of public participation in community development at Rang Wai Sub-District Municipality, Phanom Thuan District, Kanchanaburi Province. 2. To Compare the level of public participation in community development classified by personal factors. 3. To Propose a Buddhist integrative approach to promote public participation in community development at Rangwai Sub-District Municipality, conducted by the mixed-method research. The quantitative research collected data from a sample of 368 people using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA. The qualitative research employed in-depth interviews with 9 key informants and analyzed data through descriptive content interpretation.

The findings revealed that 1. The overall level of public participation in community development at Rang Wai Sub-District Municipality was found to be high ( $\bar{x}$ =3.88). When analyzed by specific dimensions, all aspects, implementation, decision-making, benefit-sharing, and evaluation were also at a high level. 2. When examining public participation in community development based on personal factors, it was found that gender had no statistically significant effect. However, age, education, occupation, and income showed statistically significant differences at the 0.01 level. 3. The integration of Aparihaniyadhamma 7 to promote public participation in community development emphasized regular and inclusive meetings and the participation process in every step. This included involving citizens in decision-making, planning, implementation, benefit-sharing, and evaluation, ensuring transparency, fairness, and genuine responsiveness to the needs of the people. Furthermore, showing respect, honoring women’s rights, listening to elders’ opinions, and supporting Buddhism, contributing to building a strong, sustainable, and united community.
