CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF KHU KHUT WATER FOWL PARK LEARNING RESOURCES BY THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PEOPLE IN SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research article aims to: 1. study the conservation and ecosystem of Khu Khut Waterfowl Park, 2. develop learning resources, and 3. create learning networks for the conservation and ecosystem of Khu Khut Waterfowl Park. The study employed a mixed-methods research approach. Quantitative data were collected from a sample of 371 people from nine villages. Qualitative data were obtained from 25 key informants, including monks and laypersons, and eight participants through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders. The data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis.

Findings were as follows: 1. Conservation and Ecosystem of Khu Khut Waterfowl Park, Khu Khut Subdistrict, Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province were as follows: Community Participation: The local community played an active role in conserving and restoring the ecosystem of Khu Khut Waterfowl Park. Environmental and Cultural Conservation: Both the community and tourists cooperated in preserving the environmental and cultural values of the park. Area Condition: The park area remained rich in natural abundance and biodiversity. Management and Administration: There were clear measures and plans to maintain the park’s ecosystem in good condition. Tourism Activities: Ecotourism and learning activities were promoted to enhance understanding and appreciation of nature in order of importance: community participation, environmental and cultural conservation, area condition, management and administration, and tourism activities. 2.The Development of Khu Khut Waterfowl Park as a Learning Resource. The development process began with the participation of the local community, schools, and local agencies, which collaborated to organize conservation activities. The local administrative organizations played a key role in providing support and promoting knowledge about the park to raise awareness and encourage public participation. Local policies aimed to empower citizens to contribute and conserve the park. 3. Creating a learning network to conserve the Khu Khut Waterfowl Park, This initiative involved collaboration among all sectors including the community and schools to promote conservation learning. Students played active roles through activities such as forming conservation clubs, sharing knowledge via social media, and participating in volunteer projects. The use of technology for conservation helped strengthen the youth network, leading to sustainable and long-term environmental preservation.
