Abstract

This research article aimed to: 1. analyze the political roles of members in the election process of the committee of Amphawa Agricultural Cooperative Limited, Samut Songkhram Province; 2. analyze factors related to the election process of the committee of Amphawa Agricultural Cooperative Limited, Samut Songkhram Province; and 3. propose guidelines to promote the political roles of members in the election process of the committee of Amphawa Agricultural Cooperative Limited, Samut Songkhram Province through the framework of Iddhipada Dhamma. This study was qualitative research using in-depth interviews with 25 key informants. Data were analyzed by descriptive content analysis.

The findings revealed that: 1. the characteristics of political roles consisted of: 1. making electoral decisions with mindfulness and wisdom; 2. participation in the election process with knowledge and legal understanding; 3. monitoring and auditing the performance of committee members based on good governance principles; and 4. forming groups for democratic political movement within the cooperative. 2. The key factors driving political roles were: 1. participatory political culture, consisting of political awareness, participation in political activities, and trust in the political system; and 2. good governance principles, consisting of the rule of law, accountability, transparency, participation, decentralization, effectiveness, efficiency, responsiveness, and equity. 3. The guidelines for promoting members’ political roles through the application of the Four Iddhipada consisted of: 1. Chanda (aspiration), cultivating genuine intention in performing duties; 2. Viriya (effort), fostering diligence in work and responsibilities; 3. Citta (concentration), developing awareness of sovereignty and common benefits; and 4. Vimamsa (investigation), enhancing understanding and careful consideration to prevent corruption and promote morality. In conclusion, the political roles of members arise from participatory political culture and good governance principles, with the Four Iddhipada serving as guidelines for performing duties with mindfulness, effort, awareness, and careful consideration to prevent corruption and strengthen morality.
