BUDDHIST INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF TEMPLES AND THE MONASTIC COMMUNITY TO STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY

Abstract

This academic article aims to study and present an integrated Buddhist management model for temples and the monastic community to strengthen communities. This is achieved through document analysis and synthesis of concepts from Buddhist principles combined with modern management science. The study integrates management frameworks such as planning, organizing, personnel management, and resource utilization, along with key Buddhist principles such as the Four Bases of Success (Iddhipada 4), the Four Sublime States (Brahma Vihara 4), the Seven Virtues of a Good Person (Sappurisadhamma 7), and the Ten Royal Virtues (Dasabhisarajadhamma), to create a management approach that is both effective and ethical. The results show that integrated Buddhist management concretely enhances the role of temples as centers of community development, effectively responding to the spiritual, social, and cultural needs of the people. This management model promotes participation from all sectors within the community through collaborative mechanisms among home, temple, and government, leading to unity, trust, and long-term community strength. It also enables temples and the Sangha to adapt to changes in modern society while maintaining the core values of Buddhism in a balanced manner. In conclusion, Buddhist integrative management serves as a significant approach to developing temples and the Sangha as key mechanisms in driving communities toward stability and sustainable development.
