THE DESIRABLE ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE MODERN ERA

Abstract

This academic article aimed to study the desirable ethics and professional conduct of police officers in the present era. The study was found that: 1. The police, as a primary agency responsible for suppressing crime, investigation, providing security, assisting citizens in times of distress, and protecting the royal family, must possess ethical conduct in accordance with the Police Act of 2010. This act emphasizeed truthfulness, self-control, patience, and ethical conduct in performing duties, including maintaining authority in compliance with the Constitution and human rights, ensuring justice and the safety of public property, facilitating public service, showing humility and respect, and maintaining a professional appearance. 2. The Khan Na Yao Metropolitan Police Station plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and improving the quality of life for citizens in its area of ​​responsibility. Community development under the station’s supervision emphasized close cooperation between officers and residents, with the primary goal of sustainably reducing crime and drug problems. This included utilizing a community patrol system to engage in dialogue and listen to the real problems of residents, promoting constructive activities for youth to prevent them from engaging in illegal activities, and adapting modern technology for monitoring high-risk areas in collaboration with community volunteers. 3. The code of ethics in public administration is a set of principles that helps police officers to perform their duties with integrity, transparency, and accountability to the public. Key principles include honesty, transparency, social responsibility, political neutrality, and adherence to good governance principles.
