The Four Bases of Spiritual Power, Development, Public Facilities of the TempleAbstract
This academic article analyzes the Four Bases of Success (Iddhipada 4) and its application to the development of temple public works. It examines the role of Buddhist principles in promoting efficient and sustainable development of public works in three areas: 1. temple restoration and development, 2. construction and restoration of monastic buildings, and 3. maintenance and management of temple property. A causal analysis reveals that most temples face challenges in their management, such as a lack of management skills, insufficient personnel, and budgetary constraints. The application of Iddhipada 4, consisting of Chanda (satisfaction), Viriya (diligence), Citta (consideration), and Vimamsa (reflection), as a key mechanism for driving the development of temple public works, demonstrates that development is crucial for improving quality of life and progress, and plays a vital role in organizations and institutions. Therefore, the development of temple public works requires the application of Buddhist principles for optimal progress and improvement. In summary, Iddhipada 4, using Chanda to create motivation, Viriya to promote continuous effort, and Citta to foster responsibility and attention to the work, demonstrates the importance of these principles in the development of temple public works. Furthermore, Vimamsa (analytical thinking) helps in analyzing, planning, and improving operations to be appropriate and effective, in accordance with Buddhist principles, and leading to the sustainable progress of the temple and the community.
