JOB DESIGN IN THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ERA: GUIDELINES FOR AI GOVERNANCE BASED ON THE FOUR POWERS
Keywords:
Job Design, Artificial Intelligence, Governance, Four PowersAbstract
This academic article aims to examine job design in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to propose an approach to governing AI use based on the Four Powers. The article employs documentary study and conceptual synthesis, drawing on concepts related to AI- oriented job design, AI governance, human–AI collaboration, and the Four Powers. The synthesis shows that AI plays an important role in transforming organizational work, particularly in data analysis, auditing, decision support, and work process improvement. The use of AI therefore involves not only technology adoption, but also the redesign of tasks, roles, responsibilities, and workforce competencies so that personnel can work appropriately with intelligent systems. AI use also involves several limitations and risks, such as data quality problems, lack of system transparency, data bias, personal data violations, over-reliance on technology, and impacts on the human role in work processes. This article proposes that the Four Powers, namely wisdom, effort, integrity, and social harmony, can be applied as a systematic mechanism for governing AI use. Wisdom governs data accuracy, the reasoning behind AI outputs, and the appropriateness of AI use cases. Effort supports continuous monitoring, evaluation, and system improvement. Integrity promotes transparency, fairness, bias reduction, and accountability among system users. Social harmony encourages participation, communication, and mutual understanding between humans and AI. The key contribution of this article is an AI governance model based on the Four Powers, explained through the relationship among input, process, and output. This model links technology use, job design, and ethical governance, leading to AI use that is efficient, transparent, fair, accountable, and sustainable in digital organizations.
