Entrepreneurial Orientation and Sustainable Competitive Advantage: an Empirical Research of Furniture Export Business in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to investigate the effect of: 1) entrepreneurial orientation on sustainable competitive advantage, and 2) long-term vision, technological change, and organizational learning culture on entrepreneurial orientation of furniture exporting business in Thailand. A sample of 758 executives of furniture export business in Thailand. The data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, simple and multiple regression analysis. The results of study revealed as follows: 1) entrepreneurial orientation had a significantly positive relationship with sustainable competitive advantage at the .01 level, 2) long-term vision had a significantly positive relationship with entrepreneurial orientation at the .01 level, 3) technological change had a significantly positive relationship with entrepreneurial orientation at the .001 level, and 4) organizational learning culture had a significantly positive relationship with entrepreneurial orientation at the .05 level. The research findings suggest that executives of furniture export business in Thailand use them as a guideline for identifying an entrepreneurial orientation that can lead to sustainable competitive advantage. This research also contributes to better understanding of entrepreneurial orientation in the context of furniture export business in Thailand.
