Consumers’ Perception of Social Responsibility of Provincial Electricity Authority in Kao Panom Sub-District, Kao Panom District, Krabi Province

Abstract
This research aims to 1) investigate consumers’ perception of social responsibility of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Kao Panom Sub-district, Kao Panom District, Krabi Province, and 2) compare their level of awareness in relevance to gender, age, educational background, occupation, income and length of residence. Three hundred and seventy-nine residents of Kao Panom aged over 20 were subjects in this study. They were selected through stratified random sampling. A questionnaire to elicit responses related to procedures of social responsibility of the authority was used as the research instrument. It has the overall reliability of .97. Statistics used in this study were percentage, mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA and LSD test. Results revealed that the consumers’ perception of the overall social responsibility of the authority was at good level ( =3.82, S.D.=.60). To be specific, aspects of public relations, procedures and the standardized system of social responsibility and environment, building relationships with the community, and collaboratively creating rules and social values: were also rated at good level ( =3.79, S.D.=.70, =3.72, S.D.=.67, =3.60, S.D.=.54, =3.57, S.D.=.84 respectively). The different age of users had different perception in the overall perception (P=.038), in public relation and communication aspect (P=.020) and process and standard system of social responsibility and environment aspect (P=.029) and the different occupation of users had different perception in community and alliance participation aspect (P=.033) and mutual value creation aspect (P=.028). The different sex, education level, income and time of living in community of users had different perception.
