Abstract

This was the quantitative study. The cross-sectional survey study aimed to evaluate a needs assessment in self-competency development for practices in Primary Care Cluster (PCC) of Public Health Technical Officers in Region Health 12th. Th samples were 134 Public Health Technical Officers who working at Tambon Health Promoting Hospital of Region Heath 12th and registered as PCC during 2018. Data collecting instrument was questionnaire with dual–response format. Data analysis were descriptive statistics and Modified Priority Needs Index (PNIM). The results of a needs assessment in self-competency development for practices in PCC among Public Health Technical Officers in Region Health 12th revealed that the highest of PNIM was academic, research and innovation development competency (PNIM = 0.33) following with personal features competency (PNIM = 0.26). When considering each item, it has been found that the analysis of health determinates and social determinates and designs of learning activities for behavior changing among all groups of customers (PNIM = 0.27) were the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of health promotion competency. The design of holistic health care for people group of healthy, high risk and illness was the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of basic assessment and treatment competency (PNIM = 0.27). Disease and health hazard surveillance system was the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of disease control and prevention competency (PNIM = 0.20). Receipt and management of complaints regarding environmental health was the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of occupational and environmental health competency (PNIM = 0.27). The utilization of evidence-based practices and distribution of research were the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of academic, research and innovation development competency (PNIM = 0.53).  The technique of persuasive speaking and persuasive data presentation for meet healthy goals was the highest needs assessment in self-competency development of personal features competency (PNIM = 0.34).
