Abstract

This research aimed to study the relationship of the compensation awarded and the affects it has on the motivation of the employees. The study was a survey research conducted using questionnaires with of 320 people as research sample study. The 30 questionnaire set passed reliability test using the internal consistency method to find the Alpha coefficient of Cronbach's alpha coefficient value which is used to analyze the reliability of the questionnaires equal to .895 Therefore, the questionnaires had the reliability. The data was analyzed through descriptive statistics: mean, percentage, and tested by the correlation coefficient between variables. The findings showed that the motivation factor at work of the employees working in the department stores in term of compensation  revealeda value with high average score at (gif.latex?\bar{x}=4. 49). When analyzingeach factor revealed that salary had the highest average score at (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.55), followed by overtime pay (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.52), emoluments (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.49), andwelfare (gif.latex?\bar{x}= 4.41) respectively.  The correlation coefficient value of motivation factors correlated with the compensation awarded among the employees working at the department stores had the same direction. The correlation coefficient between variables had a correlation coefficient at .018 with a variable correlation coefficient of statistical significance at .05
