Abstract

The purposes of the research were: 1) to study level of community participation in academic administration; and 2) to propose the guidelines to promote community participation in academic administration. The research procedure included 2 stages. Stage 1 was studying level of participation in academic administration. The sample group, using stratified sampling, consisted of 166 school administrations and academic heads of school under the Angthong primary educational service area office. The research instrument employed was a questionnaire. The reliability was at 0.96. Statistical analysis was conducted using mean, and standard deviation. Stage 2 was providing the guidelines of promote community participation in academic administration. The key informants, obtained from purposive sampling, included 5 experts. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview and analyze the data with content analysis techniques.  The research results revealed as follows: 1) level of community participation in academic administration the overall problem was at a high level. The aspect with the highest average was academic planning, followed by development and promotion of learning resources, and the side with the lowest mean was teaching and learning management in schools; and 2) the guidelines of promote community participation in academic administration consisted of 38 lists of practice classified into 5 aspects; (1) The local curriculum development containing 11 lists. (2) the academic planning containing 8 lists. (3) the teaching and learning management in schools containing 6 lists. (4) the development and promotion of learning resources containing 6 lists. and (5) The encouraging the community to be academically strong containing 7 lists.
