The Development of the Social Studies Students on Critical Thinking Ability Using Phenomenal based learning of GE0022310 Realization of Educational Changes Course

Abstract

This research aims at building a phenomenon-based learning plan to develop critical thinking, to compare critical thinking after using the phenomenon-based learning plan, and to study student satisfaction towards phenomenon-based learning. The research population included two study groups of third-year social studies students enrolled in 2nd semester of academic year 2021 totaling 51 persons.  The sample group included third-year social studies students by specifying the second student group under 621147201 as an experimental group chosen from cluster sampling.  Research instruments were a phenomenon-based learning plan, ordinary learning plan, critical thinking assessment test, and educational satisfaction scale.  Statistics for data analysis included average, standard deviation, and dependent and independent t-test. Results of the research show that The phenomenon-based learning developed in this study comprised of 4 units of teaching totaling 16 activity plans. Regarding to comparison of critical thinking, students in the experimental group had higher critical thinking than students in the control group at the statistically significant level of .05. and Students in the experimental group were in general satisfied towards phenomenon-based learning at the highest level (x̄ = 4.55 S.D. = 0.61).
