Drug use behavior of Thai people in Nong Chok District, Bangkok

Abstract

This study had the following objectives 1) To study the characteristics of medicine users and the medicine usage behavior of Thai people 2) To study the relationship between the medicine users of gender, age, level of education, income, marital status, occupation and medicine usage behavior of Thai people. The samples were 399 subjects who lived in Nongchok area during Febuary–April 2015. This research was a survey type by using a questionnaire as an instrument  for data collection with a reliability of  .73


The results of the study were as follows.The analysis of data found that the medicine usage behavior of the subjects are mostly right at 84.7percent. When divided into aspect of analysis it was found that : As to consultation with pharmacist before medicine usage it was at medium level, that is 55.6 percent. It was also found from the analysis that most subjects did not see the needs of pharmacist consultation. The problem of unreasonable medicine usage might be due to the pharmacist were still unable to give an appropriate understanding to the people who seek medical service. The relationship between all personal characteristics and medicine usage behavior were relatively low. The lack of confirmation in these hypotheses might be due to the fact that the subjects were equally interested in medicine usage with in that division, thus, there found no differences accordingly.
